C.A.R.E.S.- Supporting your employee caregivers is smart business

C.A.R.E.S. bridges the gap between workplace responsibilities and caregiving needs.

  • For the first time in U.S. history the number of working adults providing care to an older adult (nearly 53 million) has exceeded the number providing care to preschool children (21 million)
  • Family caregivers of older adults make up nearly 20% of the workforce
  • 59% of family caregivers are 35-64
  • 61% of family caregivers are women
  • 21% of family caregivers have children under 18

Many people support an older adult without realizing they’re caregivers. If you answer “yes” to any of the questions below— you are a caregiver.

Do you:

  • Help with meals, medications, or transportation?
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, or housework?
  • Provide emotional support or check in regularly?
  • Go to appointments or help make medical decisions?
  • Manage bills, insurance, or legal paperwork?
  • Rearrange your schedule or take time off work to help someone?
  • Worry about someone’s safety or well-being?

If you checked even one box— you’re a caregiver.

Recognizing your role is the first step to making your life easier.

Caregiving looks different for everyone. By recognizing your role, you can:

  • Get help nearby and online
  • Receive one-on-one support
  • Learn how to care for yourself
